Spatial-Temporal Evolution of Ceramic Handicraft Workshops in Central and South China and Its Economic Effects

Taking Central and South China as the research area,this paper analyzes the spatial-temporal evolution characteristics of ceramic handicraft workshops from 1980 to 2020 by the means of GIS spatial analysis and spatial statistical analysis,and discusses the economic effects of ceramic handicraft workshops on the local area from the perspective of econometrics. The research indicates that the ceramic handicraft workshops in Central and South China is generally characterized by "low-high-low" development trend that means low in the germination and formation stages,high in the development and peak stages and low in the decline stage. On a whole,the spatial distribution of ceramic handicraft workshops in Central and South China becomes increasingly concentrated,but shows a trend of gradual slowdown. At the provincial level,it manifests the "dual-core" structure development which takes Guangdong and Hunan as the cores. At the city level,ceramic handicraft workshops developed in Meizhou,Zhaoqing and Changsha early where it drives the aggregation of workshops in the surrounding cities and maintains a relatively stable development. Capital stock,number of employees,education level of practitioners,scale of ceramic handicraft industry and local tourism level in Central and South China have significant positive effects on economic growth of the region,and have outstanding spatial spillover effects on surrounding areas. Therefore,in order to inherit the culture of ceramic handicraft workshops,it should strengthen the cluster construction of ceramic handicraft workshops in typical areas,and make full use of its positive spillover effect to drive the economic growth of ceramic handicraft workshops in surrounding areas.
