Economic Performance of Spatial Structure Evolution of High Technology Manufacturing in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei

Abstract

This paper, using the enterprise micro data, integrates spatial interpolation and index measurement to reveal the spatial structure and evolution trend of high-tech manufacturing in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and on the basis of the economic theoretical assumptions, empirically tests the impact of spatial concentration of high-tech manufacturing and spatial separation index on labor productivity through dynamic panel model. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows: Firstly, high-tech manufacturing industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is still excessively concentrated in Beijing and Tianjin, but it shows a tendency of decentering andthe dispersed polycentric structure, and the output value of high-tech manufacturing industry obviously increases in Shijiazhuang and Cangzhou. Secondly, Excessive monocentric agglomeration inhibits the further development of high-tech manufacturing industry in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, while the polycentric structure can weaken the diseconomies of agglomeration caused by excessive concentration. Subject to transaction costs and the need for "face-to-face" contact, a compact and polycentric structure makes it easier to integrate multisite into an integrated industrial network system through industry linkages and technology spillovers. In the process of resolving excessive high-tech manufacturing of Beijing and promoting Beijing's innovation achievements in the industrialization of Tianjin and Hebei, the distance between the main industry center or the source of innovation and the industry undertaking should be considered.
