Influence of Comparative Advantage and Competitive Advantage on Regional Manufacturing Transfer

Abstract

Using the panel data of China's manufacturing industry from 2001 to 2015,this paper apply the spatial econometric model to examine the effects of comparative advantage and competitive advantage on the transfer of China's manufacturing industry. At the same time, according to the gradient transfer theory, the research area is divided into three economic regions:the East, the middle and the west, which is in order to test the robustness of the model. The results show that the potential comparative advantage promotes the industrial transfer, the regional comparative advantage has a significant positive effect on regional industrial transfer, factor endowments also have obvious effect on manufacturing transfer. The regional competitive advantage has a great influence on industrial transfer, the effect of scale economy and agglomeration on industrial transfer is very significant. The impact of infrastructure on industrial transfer is positive,the improvement of traffic conditions and the decline of transportation cost are beneficial to the transfer of manufacturing industry. The impact of institutional factors on industrial transfer is expected, the more intensive foreign investment, the higher the degree of transfer. The higher the degree of government involvement in economic activities, the more detrimental to the transfer of regional manufacturing. Tallying with Chinese market economy is not perfect and the government's macroeconomic control strictly.
