Integration is an important strategy for economic construction in the new period,and also the highest form of regional coordinated development as well. Relying on the symbiosis theory and the social network theory, this study constructs a theoretical framework of symbiotic network for tourism integration, and then builds an evaluation system for regional tourism integration from five dimensions,including institutional mechanism,industrial development,infrastructure, marketing,and regional connections. It uses the evaluation system to measure the tourism symbiotic integration level in 26 cities of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration from 2011 to 2020,and tests the influence of tourism cooperation on regional tourism symbiotic integration by the spatial Durbin model. The study finds that: 1) Inter-governmental cooperation can promote the tourism symbiotic integration,but the aggregation of factors among cooperating subjects will inevitably reduce its exchanging with others,which will destroy the balance of the integration symbiotic network and generate the "shadow of cooperation" effect. 2) The intervention of higher-level governments has a positive regulatory effect on the cooperation and the tourism symbiotic integration, helping to weaken administrative boundary restrictions,compress institutional distance,improve tourism cooperation efficiency,and promote tourism integrated development. 3) Under the dual effects of promotion and shadow effects,cooperation can mediate the multi-dimensional proximity relationship of integrated tourism development and enhance its radiating effect on geographically adjacent areas.
