With the rapid development of the high-speed railway,it has great changes in China's regional development pattern. This paper analyzes the impact mechanism of high-speed railway on China's regional coordinated development,and points out that the space-time compression effect of high-speed railway affects market integration effect,urban competition and cooperation effect and urban agglomeration space effect,which leads to the multi-center development of urban system,the diversification of industrial structure and the ordering of innovation network structure,gives birth to the coordinated governance of economic growth and ecological environment,and then promotes the regional coordinated development. Based on the background of high-speed railway construction and using the panel data from 2005 to 2019,this study applies the coupling coordination degree to measure the level of regional coordinated development in Hunan,and analyzes its evolution characteristics and the impact mechanism of high-speed railway on the regional coordinated development by the means of ESDA and the DID model respectively. The results show that: 1) The overall level of regional coordinated development in Hunan shows the increasing trend in the era of high-speed railway. 2) The spatial structure of urban coordinated development level is optimized. It has the highest level of coordination in Changsha. The coordinated level in cities along the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao High-speed Railway,such as Changsha,Zhuzhou,Xiangtan,Yueyang, Hengyang and Chenzhou,is significantly higher than that in Western Hunan,showing a gradient decreasing trend from the east of Hunan to the west of Hunan as a whole. 3) High-speed railway has a positive impact on the regional coordinated development of Hunan. 4) High-speed railway indirectly affects the level of regional collaborative development through urban system,industrial structure,innovation network,tourism development and environmental collaborative governance
