Abstract

Based on the urban data and spatial data of 270 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2019,this study uses the panel data model and spatial econometric model to identify the impact of technological innovation and industrial agglomeration on the efficiency of new urbanization,and investigates the influencing mechanism. The results show that: Firstly,scientific and technological innovation has a significant positive spatial spillover effect on the efficiency of new urbanization. Secondly,industrial agglomeration has a significant negative spatial spillover effect on the efficiency of new urbanization,which indicates that the negative externalities of industrial agglomeration in China are greater than its positive externalities. Thirdly,with the increase of industrial agglomeration,the impact of scientific and technological innovation on the efficiency of new urbanization will be significantly increased. According to OLS regression model and spatial econometric model,the conclusions of this study are robust. Therefore,the improvement of new urbanization efficiency requires reasonable planning of industrial layout while improving innovation input.
